Family Classes
Create meaningful memories for the whole family while attending a desert exploration program about native plants and animals. These programs are designed for families with children ages 5 to 12, although children 17 and under are welcome. Prices listed include one child and one adult.

Cactus Container Garden

Discover the wonderful world of cacti in this beginner level class as we explore adaptations, ecology, and cultivation of this diverse family of plants through a guided walk and dissection project. Each child receives a pot, a special soil mixture, and a small cactus to take home and continue their learning. Additional participants are $14 for members, $17 for the general public.

Sculpture in the Garden

Channel your inner creativity as we craft our own imaginative garden sculptures. This class will tour the brand new art installation of Jun Kaneko's dynamic, life-size figures for inspiration before getting their hands dirty to create individual masterpieces to take home. Additional participants are $15 for members, $18 for the general public.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Refunds are available for cancellations made at least 10 business days prior to the program. Cancellations made within 10 business days will incur a 30% cancellation fee. Refunds will not be issued for missed programs or after the program start date.

Early Childhood Programs
Most brain development in children happens in the first eight years, and much of it in the first three. Nature education programs at the Garden are a fantastic way to promote your child's development.

Summer Camp ages 5-12
Each day our campers become scientists as they use their powers of observation in the classroom and on the trail to learn about the world around them. Campers will break out into groups by age to take part in outdoor experiences, children's literature, free choice learning, art projects and more! Snacks are provided. Campers must bring their own sack lunch.

Summer Camp has concluded for 2017. Registration for next year will open in winter 2017.

Teens in the Garden
TEENS IN THE GARDEN (TIG) PROGRAM
Know any teens 13 to 18 years old who are interested in a fun and interactive plant-science adventure? Let them know about this priceless opportunity to gain experience and work closely with Garden staff and volunteers. During monthly gatherings throughout the school year teens will learn first-hand what careers and experiences await them at botanical gardens. With the help of experienced plant biologists, the teen team will contribute to an international scientific database - giving them skills and experiences needed for college and beyond.

Price: $50.00
Teens in the Garden Program will focus on citizen science, volunteer projects, horticulture, and research at the Desert Botanical Garden.

Registration fee: $50 per year.
