Family Classes
Create meaningful memories for the whole family while attending a desert exploration program about native plants and animals. These programs are designed for families with children ages 5 to 12, although children 17 and under are welcome. Prices listed include one child and one adult.

Spend a celestial evening in the Garden as we explore the wonders of the night sky using the STARLAB Portable Planetarium from ASU's School of Earth and Space Exploration. Discover the mythology of our constellations and the stories that have been told by different cultures from long ago. Please wear comfortable clothing and your favorite socks; no shoes are allowed inside the STARLAB.

Paleoecology Private Eye

Fossils are one of the most important ways to learn what our world was like thousands of years ago. Investigate plant and animal fossils in order to uncover the ecology of ancient eras with a guest from the Arizona Museum of Natural History. Explore fossils, learn paleontology skills and solve mysteries through the science of paleoecology.

The Science of Storytelling

Storytelling is perhaps mankind's most ancient art, and an important part of our culture. Join us for a special presentation by the South Mountain Storytelling Institute, then get creative with your own storytelling. Participants will make their own animal finger puppet to take home and act out their own story.

Most brain development in children happens in the first eight years, and much of it in the first three. Nature education programs at the Garden are a fantastic way to promote your child's development.

The Desert Botanical Garden is committed to high quality education. We offer a variety of resources to support teachers and students in and out of the classroom. Spring Break Camp
Children become scientists as they use their powers of observation to learn about the world around them. Garden instructors encourage exploratory learning in a fun and safe environment. Each day of camp brings new adventures in outdoor experiences, children's art and literature, free choice learning and more.

Wings and Wildflowers

Your child will become a budding botanist as we examine flowers, bugs and birds during this week-long camp session. Each day, campers will break out into groups by grade level to learn about plant structures and the relationship between desert flowers and pollinators. Snacks included. Campers must bring their own lunch each day.

Spring Break Camp has concluded for the 2016-2017 school year. Registration for the 2017-2018 school year will open in fall 2017.

Teens in the Garden
TEENS IN THE GARDEN (TIG) PROGRAM
Know any teens 13 to 18 years old who are interested in a fun and interactive plant-science adventure? Let them know about this priceless opportunity to gain experience and work closely with Garden staff and volunteers. During monthly gatherings throughout the school year teens will learn first-hand what careers and experiences await them at botanical gardens. With the help of experienced plant biologists, the teen team will contribute to an international scientific database - giving them skills and experiences needed for college and beyond.

Teens in the Garden
 
There is a fee of $50 to be paid at accepted applicants first meeting. This fee covers the cost of a program t-shirt, snacks and incidentals during the course of the yearly program.
