Art

Be inspired by your imagination and release your creativity by attending art classes at the Garden. Classes are intended to foster your artistic visions and give you the skills to bring them to life. Each class is designed to be hands-on with individualized instruction. The Garden offers programs in mosaic, gourd art, drawing and painting, and jewelry making.

All art class materials are included with attendance unless otherwise noted. We suggest that you bring your own snacks or lunch.


Botanical Collage

Ammonite Gourd Vessel

The ammonite, a fossilized sea squid from Madagascar, makes a wonderful focal point when integrated into the body of a canteen gourd. Color and dye the gourd and then stipple during this session. There will be an option to color stippled areas with a variety of different products. The latter portion of the day will be spent lashing the pygmy date palm onto the gourd.  All supplies furnished. CLASS CANCELLATIONS | Desert Botanical Garden reserves the right to cancel programs at its discretion. Programs will run as scheduled, regardless of weather, unless participants are contacted directly by Garden staff. We reserve the right to substitute any instructors.
