Each class is designed to be hands-on with individualized instruction. The Garden offers programs in mosaic, gourd art, drawing and painting, bonsai, and jewelry making.

The spiky thorns and angular ridges of cacti often create unique interplays of light and shadow against the plants’ smooth green surfaces, all of which make them perfect subjects for watercolors. This flamboyant wreath features small ornamental gourds colored with water-based and alcohol inks. Add in some devil’s claw and and botanical materials from the broader Southwest. Learn to wire your ring into a sturdy finished piece and coat it with a preserving sealant. Students should bring an 18-inch grapevine wreath, wire-cutter and a heat tool (optional). Gorgeous Gourd Gifts

Sue Brogdon demonstrates techniques in alcohol inks such as dripping, stamping, painting and blending. Choose your favorite or experiment as you transform four ornament-sized gourds and two cannonballs into works of art. Finish by embellishing the gifts with beads and feathers and learn how to wire-wrap one of the ornaments. Students should bring a heat tool (optional) and a small bottle of Gorilla gel glue. Limit 12.
