The Garden offers fun and life-enriching experiences for adults. Get in touch with nature and the desert through photography, culinary, wellness and landscaping experiences. Dig in to classes onsite at the Garden and new this season at off-site venues throughout the Valley.
Gain skills and confidence to get the job done in all aspects of desert landscaping, plus earn a credential after you successfully complete all the certificate programs.
Families engage in hands-on, nature-based experiences in a fun and safe environment, and teachers can participate in professional development opportunities.
Landscape and Gardening
Whether you are new to gardening or want to increase your knowledge, the Garden provides classes that will give you the necessary skills to become a successful low-desert gardener. Landscape and gardening programs cover an array of topics including vegetable gardening, pruning, desert plants, container gardening, sustainable practices and landscape design. Many of the classes are supported with hands-on investigative learning and taught by professionals in the field. Please note, some classes may take place outside Desert Botanical Garden at an off-site location. Be sure to verify class location in the class description before purchasing.

In this class, learn the uses of different types of organic seeds and the difference between heirloom and hybrid seeds. Learn about seed collection, propagation and germination to get you ready for fall vegetable planting. All materials included, no experience necessary, please bring gardening gloves. Instructed by horticulturist, Carol Stuttard.

Get your hands dirty and learn how to grow healthy, organic fall vegetables. Learn soil preparation, companion planting and when to plant. In this hands-on class, explore the basics of vegetable gardening in low desert climates, including new varieties you may never have heard of and how to grow them yourself from seed. Perfect for beginners, but all levels welcome. This class is outdoors; please dress appropriately for the weather, bring garden gloves and water. Instructed by horticulturist, Carol Stuttard. Transportation to the class location is not provided.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS | Desert Botanical Garden reserves the right to cancel programs at its discretion. Programs will run as scheduled, regardless of weather, unless participants are contacted directly by Garden staff. We reserve the right to substitute any instructors.
REFUND POLICY | To receive a refund, you must send a written request at least 14 days before the scheduled date of your class or program.
AGE REQUIREMENTS | Children under 10 may not attend. Ages 10-14 may attend education programs with an adult and both must pay fees. Those 15 and older may attend without an adult.
