Art

Be inspired by your imagination and release your creativity by attending art classes at the Garden. Classes are intended to foster your artistic visions and give you the skills to bring them to life. Each class is designed to be hands-on with individualized instruction. The Garden offers programs in mosaic, gourd art, drawing and painting, and jewelry making.

Copper Cutout Gourd Vessel

Create a unique vessel with two cutouts featuring a free-form woven copper insert enhanced with beads and silk cording. Color the gourd with dye ink and copper pigment powder of your choosing and seal it. Next create the insert for the cutout, using copper wire, beads and other materials.  To complete the project, lash the cutouts and rim with black pine needles and copper wire. Instructor will provide a prepped gourd, dye inks, copper pigment, spray paint, sealant, copper wire for the framework and coiling, dyed black pine needles, gages and a needle for lashing.  Students should bring a heat tool if you have one, bucket, old towel and a wire cutter.
